Three New York Partners Named Notable Women in Law by Crain’s

New York partners Nicole Fanjul, Alli Stillman, and Lisa Watts have been named to the Crain’s New York Business list of Notable Women in Law for 2022. The annual list recognizes women with distinguished careers who demonstrate exemplary leadership skills and a deep commitment to civic, philanthropic, and mentoring activities.

• Nicole Fanjul is Co-Deputy Managing Partner of Latham’s New York office and a member of the firm’s Banking Practice. Fanjul represents lenders and corporate borrowers in complex financing transactions, with a focus on syndicated leveraged finance and direct lending. She has advised on the some of the largest acquisition financings in recent years, including representing the lenders in connection with Takeda’s US$46 billion acquisition of Shire, the largest-ever overseas takeover by a Japanese company. Fanjul previously served as the Local Leader of the New York office’s Black Lawyers Affinity Group, and as a member of the Women Enriching Business Committee, Associates Committee, and Recruiting Committee. She also frequently advises on immigration-related pro bono matters. Fanjul has been named a Rising Star by the New York Law Journal and a Woman Worth Watching by Profiles in Diversity Journal.
• Alli Stillman, nationally recognized for representing “some of the biggest brands in music,” represents public and private companies in a range of industries in copyright and associated intellectual property litigation matters. With a concentration in technology, media and entertainment, Stillman’s work often centers on issues that help shape national copyright law. Stillman was the only attorney selected for Leadership Music’s Class of 2022, a nationwide program for established music industry leaders. Stillman serves on the New York City Bar Association’s Council for Intellectual Property and on the Board of Directors of Lawyers for Children. She has been named to Crain’s New York Business’ 40 under 40 list, and she has been named a Top Music Lawyer in Talent & Litigation by Billboard, Top 20 New York Entertainment Attorney by the Hollywood Reporter, Media & Entertainment Rising Star by Law360, and a Rising Star by the New York Law Journal.
• Lisa Watts, Vice Chair of Latham and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, focuses on the development of the firm’s strategic direction and manages its global presence. In addition, she advises clients on corporate and partnership taxation. Watts brings more than two decades of experience with complex transactional tax issues to her work advising clients. Watts is a key voice in Latham’s support of racial justice and equal treatment under the law and the firm’s More Than Words initiative, which combines ongoing financial support for racial justice organizations, pro bono work, and education. She was named to Crain’s New York Business’ 2020 Notable Women in Law list and has been named a Dealmaker of the Year by the New York Law Journal and a Tax MVP by Law360.
