Bay Area Partner Again Named Top White Collar Lawyer in California

For the second consecutive year, Bay Area partner Leslie Caldwell has been named a Top White Collar Lawyer in California by the Daily Journal, the Golden State’s legal newspaper of record. Caldwell, one of only three women to hold the position of Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, is a trusted advisor to numerous Fortune 500 corporations and their executives regarding sensitive matters such as crisis management, internal investigations, and government enforcement.

In the profile, Caldwell was honored for her work defending Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC). In a rare criminal trade secrets case, Caldwell and her team secured the dismissal of the criminal conspiracy and economic espionage charges against UMC, narrowing the case to the point where the client pleaded to a single count of possession of a stolen trade secret and agreed to a nominal fine. Describing her work on the matter, Caldwell noted “I really enjoy helping clients with complicated challenges and scary problems.”
