October 20, 2021
Asian Legal Business
Hong Kong partner honored for her work as a leading capital markets practitioner.

Asian Legal Business has named Hong Kong partner Cheung Ying (Cathy) Yeung to its inaugural Top 15 Female Lawyers List. This list honors leading women lawyers in Asia who have continuously made their mark in the market despite the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To compile the list, Asian Legal Business conducted background research as well as interviews with clients and peers, selecting the winning candidates according to a number of key evaluation criteria including significant deals, client wins, certifications, other accolades, and professional activities, among others.

The award recognizes Yeung’s work as a leading capital markets practitioner in Greater China, having pioneered many ‘first-of-their-kind’ deals that set precedents for subsequent transactions in the region, including her strong track record advising leading Chinese technology and life sciences companies in their Hong Kong and US initial public offerings. She was also honored for her wider contributions to prominent Hong Kong business forums, particularly in regard to corporate governance and the Hong Kong Listing Rules.

Yeung said: “I am delighted to be named to this inaugural list of top female lawyers in Asia. Throughout my career I’ve been fortunate to be able to advise clients on some of the most innovative and cutting edge deals making their mark in this part of the world, and I am excited about the continued growth opportunities in this dynamic region. At Latham, our commitment to offering equal opportunities to female lawyers and providing a diverse and inclusive workplace lies at the heart of our culture, and I experienced this first-hand early on in my time at the firm when I became the first female lawyer to hold a management role in the Hong Kong office. Today as a member of our Diversity Leadership Committee I hope I can continue to set an example for the next generation of young female lawyers.”

Yeung is a Corporate partner in the firm’s Hong Kong office, Chair of the Greater China Practice, and former Vice Chair of the firm’s Capital Markets and Public Company Representation Practices. She has more than 20 years experience advising on People’s Republic of China-related corporate finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and public company representation.
