Latham Honored With Four Notable Life Science Awards

Firm recognized by LMG Life Sciences for excellence in the life science legal space.

Latham & Watkins was honored with four awards by LMG Life Sciences, which recognizes the firms and individuals behind the most innovative and challenging life sciences work from the past year. The LMG Life Sciences Awards are regarded as one of the industry’s top programs and we are proud to have been recognized every year since their inception in 2012.

In an unprecedented year, the collective efforts of our healthcare and life sciences team led to the following awards:

  • M&A Firm of the Year Latham was honored for its outstanding M&A work in the past year, which includes some of the industry’s biggest deals in vastly innovative areas including early cancer detection, genetic engineering, and mobile health solutions.
  • Venture Capital Firm of the Year – Latham was honored for its extensive venture capital work within the industry such as the financing of vaccine and drug developers and companies sustainably feeding the planet. 
  • Corporate Attorney of the Year – Peter Handrinos –– Boston partner, Peter Handrinos, was recognized for his work advising many of the most prominent biotechnology companies on major transactions such as his representation, together with OC partner, Scott Shean, of Momenta Pharmaceuticals in its US$6.5 billion sale to Johnson & Johnson and his representation of Ra Pharmaceuticals in its US$2.1 billion sale to UCB.
  • Impact Deal of the Year Latham was honored for representing Sana Biotechnology, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on creating and delivering engineered cells as medicines for patients, in its US$587.5 million upsized initial public offering of 23.5 million shares of its common stock at a public offering price of US$25 per share. The award winning deal with led by partners Brian Cuneo and Shayne Kennedy.

In addition, Latham was selected as finalists in a number of other categories that were part of LMG Life Sciences Awards program, including: Life Cycle Firm of the Year – United States, Corporate Firm of the Year, General Patent Litigation Firm of the Year, M&A Attorney of the Year – Charles Ruck, Venture Capital Attorney of the Year – Brian Cuneo, General Patent Litigator of the Year for DC Metro – Michael Morin, General Patent Litigator of the Year for New York – Arlene Chow, and Hatch-Waxman Litigator of the Year Branded – Adam Perlman.
