Latham’s International Arbitration Practice Again Named to GAR's Elite Ranking

July 21, 2021
Global Arbitration Review
Prominent industry publication honored Latham in its annual listing of firms with leading arbitration groups.

Global Arbitration Review (GAR) has once again ranked Latham in its annual listing of the world’s leading international arbitration practices, recognizing the firm in the publication’s top 30 most elite teams.

Each year GAR compiles a list of the 100 leading practices around the world. The publication’s most elite ranking, the GAR 30, honors the busiest practices, calculated on the size and number of each firm’s disputes that have gone to hearings in the past two years. GAR also factors market reputation into its ranking as well as the quality and depth of each firm’s bench, cross-checking the number of individuals included in Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2021.

GAR highlighted a number of the firm’s recent successes including a significant victory defending Ukraine in an arbitration brought under the Energy Charter Treaty for payment of damages in excess of US$6 billion and obtaining a €100 million arbitral award for Strabag in an ICSID Additional Facility arbitration against Libya.

The publication also commended partners Charles Claypoole, Philip Clifford QC, Sophie Lamb QC, Fernando Mantilla-Serrano, Sebastian Seelmann-Eggebert, and Ing Loong Yang within Latham’s profile for their significant experience and standout reputation in the market.

The inclusion of Latham’s International Arbitration Practice in both the GAR 30 and Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2021 reflects the practice’s global leading position, operating as a single cohesive international team that partners with clients on the most complex and significant cases to achieve the best business outcomes.
