Century City Partner Recognized Amongst LA’s Leading Professionals

Jessica Stebbins Bina, a partner in the firm’s Century City office and a member of the Litigation & Trial Department and Entertainment, Sports and Media Industry Group, has been named to Los Angeles Business Journal’s Thriving in their 40s list, which honors “Los Angeles’ leading professionals in their 40s.” 

Stebbins Bina was selected due to her high-profile work for Pandora Media, in dispute over digital royalties on pre-1972 recordings brought by founders of the 1960s band The Turtles (of “Happy Together” fame). The suit centers on whether digital music services must pay royalties on pre-1972 recordings streamed prior to the enactment of the Music Modernization Act. After district courts returned contradictory opinions in two similar cases, the matter is headed back to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
