Latham & Watkins Assists Siemens Healthineers in Securing CFIUS Clearance

CFIUS determined that there were no unresolved national security issues with respect to Siemens Healthineers’ planned merger with Varian Medical Systems.

Siemens Healthineers AG (Frankfurt: SHL), a leading medical technology company headquartered in Erlangen, Germany, has announced that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) concluded its review under Section 721 of the Defense Production Act of 1950, as amended, of the planned merger with Varian Medical Systems, Inc. (Varian, NYSE: VAR) and determined that there were no unresolved national security issues with respect to the transaction.

Latham & Watkins LLP advised Siemens Healthineers on the CFIUS clearance process with a team led by Washington, D.C. partner Les Carnegie and counsel Rachel Alpert, with associate Allison Hugi.
