Latham Named Among “Best Law Firms for Women”

September 22, 2020
Firm has made Working Mother’s list for 12 consecutive years.

For the 12th year in a row, Working Mother magazine has named Latham & Watkins to its annual Best Law Firms for Women report, which commends US law firms that use “best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting and developing women lawyers." Criteria for making the list include percentage of female lawyers, mentorship, and succession planning. Latham, one of 60 firms to make this year’s list, earned a spot in the magazine's Hall of Fame, which honors firms that have been on the list for at least 10 years, for the second year in a row.

“We are deeply grateful to Working Mother magazine for this recognition of our firm’s unwavering commitment to our women lawyers’ success. Our firm’s ability to evolve and adapt to changing societal and market forces has served us especially well during the COVID-19 crisis. As we explore additional ways to help our women lawyers and leaders develop their networks and conduct business, we recognize lawyer-parents have to juggle additional demands,” said Mary Rose Alexander, global chair of Latham’s Women Enriching Business Committee.

“The firm has refined and expanded a number of pioneering diversity and inclusion programs to foster a flexible, supportive environment for women and women who are parents,” said Jina Yun, an associate and global co-leader of Latham’s Women Lawyers Group. “As a senior associate and parent, I’m thankful for the firm’s continued support of our lawyers and staff through the additional challenges of parenting during the pandemic.”

Ora T. Fisher, Vice Chair, said: “We are gratified to be included in the Working Mother Hall of Fame once more. The partnership is keenly focused on the career advancement of women and parent lawyers, and actively supports women’s advancement through tailored professional development, community building, and other inclusive programming.”
