Global Survey Promotes Pro Bono

Pro bono is at the core of our firm values, and lawyers and professional staff in all of our offices give generously of their time and talents each year. To help further the culture of pro bono around the globe, we are pleased to announce the fourth edition of the Survey of Pro Bono Practices and Opportunities, produced in collaboration with the Pro Bono Institute. 
  
Published in 2005, the first edition of the Survey of Pro Bono Practices and Opportunities covered 11 jurisdictions. The fourth edition covers more than 80 jurisdictions in Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa — reflecting the remarkable growth of pro bono around the world as well as the increased interest from legal service providers to support this growth. 

This unique guide highlights pro bono practices from Angola to Australia, Cameroon to Colombia, Uganda to Uruguay, and aims to expand pro bono engagement by providing information to sole practitioners, law students, law firms, corporate legal departments, public interests groups, and others who are involved or looking to get involved in providing pro bono legal services internationally. It serves as an introductory resource for those seeking to engage or learn more about the culture and provision of pro bono legal services in their own country or other countries. 
  
A team of more than 80 Latham lawyers and professional staff from across the firm’s 29 offices — working in partnership with a network of local law firms and practitioners around the world — conducted extensive research to update the survey. The 2019 edition of the Survey of Pro Bono Practices and Opportunities is available online.
