Latham Ranked a Top-4 Foreign Firm India Practice

2019 RSG India Report singles out Latham for “bringing its globally leading high yield practice to Indian clients.”

RSG Consulting has ranked Latham among the top-4 foreign firm India practices in its 2019 RSG India Report. The annual publication identifies leading India practices based on several criteria, including profile and reputation, banded quality of mandate, and banded deals. This year’s rankings incorporated feedback from “hundreds of client interviews.”

In its analysis of the leading foreign India practices, RSG commended Latham’s strong performance “on the back of a strong capital markets and private equity practice.” RSG also singled out the firm for “bringing its globally leading high yield practice to Indian clients.”

A team of more than 50 Latham lawyers based around the world regularly advise on groundbreaking transactions for clients doing business in India. Notable examples of the firm’s recent work across practices include representing:

  •  The lead managers in the US$682 million initial public offering of units by Embassy Office Parks REIT on the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited — marking India’s first real estate investment trust (REIT) and Asia’s largest REIT by office portfolio area

    • Adani Green Energy Limited, through subsidiaries and co-issuers Adani Green Energy (UP) Limited, Parampujya Solar Energy Private Limited, and Prayatna Developers Private Limited, in the US$500 million co-issuance of 6.25% senior secured notes due 2024 — only the second co-issuance by an Indian company, with Latham advising ReNew Power Ventures Private Limited on India’s first co-issuance in March 2019

    • Tencent Holdings in its equity investment in Bundl Technologies (dba Swiggy), an India-based provider of a food ordering and delivery platform — a transaction that helped bolster Swiggy’s rise to become one of the most valuable startups in India
