IJGlobal highlighted the firm’s innovative work in restructuring, geothermal, and midstream oil and gas transactions in the region.

Latham & Watkins’ Project Development & Finance Practice earned recognition for advising on three Deals of the Year at the IJGlobal Asia Pacific Awards 2018. The award-winning deals featured innovative work handled by Latham lawyers across diverse markets in the region in the restructuring, geothermal, and midstream oil and gas categories.

The honored projects include:

  • Restructuring Deal of the Year — Bayfront Infrastructure Capital’s US$458 million infrastructure project finance securitization: Latham represented Clifford Capital Pte. Ltd, a Singapore-based specialist arranger and provider of project and structured finance solutions, as the sponsor, manager, and subordinated note investor of the first infrastructure project finance securitization in Asia. This significant milestone created a new asset class to facilitate institutional investor access to infrastructure debt in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
  • Geothermal Deal of the Year — Rantau Dedap Geothermal Project: Latham advised the lenders, including the Asian Development Bank, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Nippon Export, and Investment Insurance, and a group of commercial bank lenders, in the project financing for the US$701 million Rantau Dedap geothermal power project in South Sumatra, Indonesia.
  • Midstream Oil and Gas Deal of the Year – Australia Pacific LNG project refinancing: Latham represented the private placement investors in connection with the US$1.4 billion note issuance that will be used by Australia Pacific LNG to refinance a portion of its project finance package. This was the largest US private placement for an Australian project to date.

Latham’s Asia practice also recently received recognition for nine major transactions at Asian-mena Counsel’s 2018 Deals of the Year awards.
