Merger Clearance Partner Named Antitrust Trailblazer
For seeing ahead of the curve in clearing difficult strategic M&A transactions in jurisdictions in the US and abroad, Washington, D.C. Office Managing Partner and former Co-Chair of Latham’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice Michael Egge was named an M&A and Antitrust Trailblazer by the National Law Journal.
The publication annually profiles “legal professionals who have moved the needle in antitrust law in terms of the practice, policy, and other advancements.” Egge was selected for his creativity in finding paths to victory for his clients, his early use of economics to shape both a procompetitive deal story and a defense, and his leadership in developing a cohesive merger clearance strategy across a range of global jurisdictions.
Additionally, Egge’s multi-national work helped earn him the trailblazing title. He was among the earliest truly global merger control lawyers, cutting his teeth during the 1990s explosion in new antitrust regimes, and became a leader taking a hands-on approach, appearing before authorities in Mexico, Brazil, Canada, China, Spain, Lithuania, Chile, Venezuela, Costa Rica, and the EU.
