Latham Receives Two Honors for Houston Pro Bono Work

November 16, 2018
Recognized by Lone Star Legal Aid and Texas Appleseed for commitment to the local community.

Latham has received recognition from two Texas organizations, Lone Star Legal Aid and Texas Appleseed, for the pro bono work done out of the Houston office in the past year.

For the fourth consecutive year, Lone Star Legal Aid has honored the firm with its Pro Bono Law Firm Award. Since 1948 Lone Star Legal Aid has provided free legal services to low-income and underserved populations in the Houston area. Latham has helped Houstonians with a variety of estate planning documents, including wills, powers of attorney and medical directives. The firm is also being specifically recognized for the work it has done aiding victims of Hurricane Harvey. Furthermore, Houston partner Joel Mack is being honored with Lone Star Legal Aid’s award for Most Cases Handled by A Houston Pro Bono Attorney.

Texas Appleseed honored Latham’s Houston office with its 2018 Pro Bono Leadership Award, recognizing contributions to the community. Texas Appleseed is the Texas wing of National Appleseed, the umbrella organization for a nonprofit network of public interest justice centers in the United States and Mexico engaged in the areas of education, immigration, financial access, health care and disaster recovery.

“We are proud to support our Houston community through pro bono work,” said Tim Fenn, Houston Office Managing Partner. “We are honored to be recognized by these two organizations, and thank them for their diligent and tireless work to support those in need.”
