Four Partners Named to 2018 Chicago’s Notable Women Lawyers List

Chicago partners Mary Rose Alexander, Laurie Bauer, Cathy Birkeland, and Robin Hulshizer have been named to the 2018 Chicago’s Notable Women Lawyers List by Crain’s Chicago Business. The list recognizes women lawyers from across the Chicago area who have distinguished themselves both professionally and in their community and have demonstrated a commitment to mentoring other lawyers. 

Mary Rose Alexander, Global Chair of Latham’s Environmental Litigation Practice, represents clients in complex commercial litigation involving class actions, product liability, tort, contract, environmental, and insurance coverage in state and federal courts across the country. She previously served as Vice Chair of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department and Environmental, Land & Resources Department. 
 
Laurie Bauer leads Latham’s emerging companies practice in Chicago, advising start-ups and other closely held companies through all stages, including on pre-incorporation planning, day-to-day counseling, corporate governance and commercial matters, venture financings and sale transactions. She also regularly represents venture capital firms and family offices with respect to their investments and holdings in emerging companies. Laurie is the Chicago office Recruiting Partner and is active in the firm’s Women Enriching Business Committee (WEB). 

Cathy Birkeland, Office Managing Partner of Latham in Chicago and prior Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Capital Markets Practice, advises clients on capital markets transactions, spin-off transactions, public company representation, corporate governance, and advising boards of directors on corporate matters. She previously served on Latham’s Global Diversity Leadership Committee and was a founding partner of the firm’s annual Women’s Leadership Academy in Chicago. 
 
Robin Hulshizer is a trial lawyer who litigates complex commercial and environmental matters, including toxic torts, product liability, consumer fraud, business contract, insurance coverage, and securities litigation. She previously served as Deputy Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Chicago office and is currently a member of Latham’s Diversity Leadership Committee. She serves as chair of Do the Write Thing Chicago, a city-wide essay competition working to address youth violence.
