Local Litigation Co-Chair Receives Visionary of Justice Award

The New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) honored New York-based litigation partner Jimmy Brandt with its Visionary of Justice Award at the organization’s 2018 gala on May 17. The award commends lawyers who have demonstrated a dedication to serving the community through their work. As a legal services organization, NYLAG provides access to justice for low-income New Yorkers who cannot afford private attorneys.

Brandt is the current Co-Chair of the Litigation & Trial Department at the firm’s New York office, where he formerly held the role of Managing Partner. He has served as a member of NYLAG’s board of directors since 2012 and sits on the organization’s finance and pro bono committees. In 2017, he and other pro bono attorneys helped NYLAG assist over 70,000 New Yorkers who faced legal challenges.

Fellow NYLAG board member Joseph Polizzotto lauded Brandt for both his legal skillset as well as his commitment to helping others. In particular, he noted his keen judgment as a lawyer and his sense of purpose in supporting various social justice causes.
