Lawyers Alliance of New York
Latham honored for distinguished pro bono service to nonprofits.

In recognition of the firm’s distinguished service on behalf of its clients, Lawyers Alliance for New York recently awarded Latham & Watkins its Cornerstone Award, the organization’s highest pro bono honor. Lawyers Alliance connects experienced attorneys at law firms and corporations to community organizations in need of legal counsel as they develop and provide housing, stimulate economic opportunity, improve urban health and education, promote community arts, and operate and advocate for vital programs. Since 2012, Latham lawyers have taken a range of matters—including intellectual property, transactional, and corporate work—through the organization that help improve the lives of low-income residents and the nonprofits that serve them in New York City.

“Lawyers have a responsibility to use their skills to serve the underserved and give voice to the voiceless. At Latham, we’re proud to donate hundreds of thousands of hours in pro bono every year, and to partner with Lawyers Alliance in its mission to support social enterprise and improve the quality of life in New York City,” said Abid R. Qureshi, Global Chair of the Pro Bono Committee and Washington, D.C. partner.
