Dan Schecter and Bob Steinberg honored for intellectual property market leadership.

Two Latham & Watkins litigators have been named among “The Most Influential Intellectual Property Attorneys in Los Angeles” by the Los Angeles Business Journal. The exclusive group includes “particularly stellar IP attorneys” who are “working to keep the people and businesses of Los Angeles on the right track,” according to the publication.

Schecter was honored for his counsel and trial work in high-stakes IP and complex commercial cases, with a particular emphasis on representing companies involved in domestic and cross-border disputes involving technology, entertainment and media matters. His recent cases have “broad range and impact,” according to the LA Business Journal, including a recent trade secrets case in which Schecter and a Latham team successfully represented at trial a major international bank that faced a $1.6 billion claim by a California-based fintech company.

Steinberg was cited for his “thriving” patent litigation practice, as well as for his recent efforts to organize dozens of law firms and other stakeholders in creating the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) Bar Association, the first new US bar association formed in three decades. Steinberg was elected by his peers as the first president of the organization. He also chairs Latham’s PTAB practice, which has “pioneered innovative approaches to the burgeoning area of PTAB proceedings,” according to the LA Business Journal.
