Partner Named ‘Attorney of the Year’ Finalist

 
The New York Law Journal has named Kevin McDonough a finalist for the publication’s “Attorney of the Year” award. A partner in the firm’s Securities Litigation & Professional Liability Practice Group, McDonough joined Latham in 2007, upon graduating from law school and completing a judicial clerkship. He has emerged as a go-to litigator, advising clients facing high-profile, cross-border investigations and bet-the-company, multibillion dollar litigation in the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Mexico, South Korea, Switzerland, and Turkey. His clients include all of the major accounting firms, numerous global financial institutions, and other companies across a spectrum of industries.

McDonough also serves in the unique role of chief legal counsel to the Independent Commission on New York City Criminal Justice & Incarceration Reform. Chaired by Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, of counsel in Latham’s New York office, the commission has developed proposals to improve the city’s criminal justice system and reimagine the city’s approach to incarceration. Its central recommendation to close Rikers has far-reaching implications to the criminal justice system in New York City and beyond. For more than a year, McDonough has supervised a team of over 30 lawyers and staff, who have collectively donated more than 3,000 hours of pro bono service to the commission—contributing to the largest pro bono matter currently open in Latham’s New York office.
