Latham receives the Pillars of Justice Award from longtime partner Appleseed.

Latham & Watkins was honored to receive the Pillars of Justice Award from National Appleseed at its annual reception in Washington, D.C., a gala event celebrating the progress of justice in America. National Appleseed is the umbrella organization for a nonprofit network of public interest justice centers in the United States and Mexico engaged in the areas of education, immigration, financial access, health care and disaster recovery.

For nearly 15 years, our US lawyers have offered pro bono support to Appleseed, at both the national and local levels. Among the firm’s most significant recent collaborations with Appleseed have been offering guidance and recommendations designed to help public schools in New York City better distribute their resources and combat income inequality; various efforts focused on immigration court reform; an examination of school expulsion regulations across jurisdictions; efforts to improve domestic relations courts in Chicago; and supporting the D.C. mayor’s office in its fight to secure budget autonomy for the city.
