The National Law Journal
Honored for landmark win in the first concussion class action filed against a high school governing body.

The National Law Journal has named Latham & Watkins a “Chicago Litigation Department of the Year,” spotlighting the firm’s Product Liability, Mass Torts and Consumer Class Actions Practice as a result of the October 2015 landmark win in the first concussion class action filed against a high school governing body. In its “Chicago Litigation Departments of the Year” special report, The NLJ stated, “Latham & Watkins' litigators scored a major victory when a Cook County, Illinois, judge ruled in their favor in a concussion class action with national repercussions.” Chicago-based lawyers Tom Heiden and Michael Nelson led the case on behalf of the Illinois High School Association (Pierscionek v. IHSA).

The NLJ’s annual “Chicago Litigation Departments of the Year” report spotlights law firms with Chicago-based lawyers that demonstrate excellence in litigation. Latham was also a winner last year, recognized for its White Collar Defense & Investigations Practice.
