First annual TrustLaw Index recognizes Latham & Watkins’ global commitment to pro bono.

Latham & Watkins was recognized as a leader in international pro bono services in the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s first annual TrustLaw Index of Pro Bono. As TrustLaw notes in its announcement, the survey was “compiled with data collected from over 100 law firms - both large and small - and representing 36,000 lawyers in 69 countries, the index illustrates a story of global growth and commitment to pro bono legal assistance. The index looks at both trends and data on pro bono legal assistance on a country-by-country basis.”

Beyond the US, where Latham placed in the Top 10, the firm’s global commitment to pro bono was well represented in the index: Latham ranked first in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Hong Kong; second in Belgium, Japan, Russia, Singapore, and Qatar; fifth in the United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates. This recognition follows Latham & Watkins’ recognition as, “Legal Team of the Year - International Law Firm” in November 2013 by the Thomson Reuters Foundation due to its commitment and enthusiasm for pro bono.

Since 2000, Latham has provided more than 2.4 million pro bono hours in free legal services to the disadvantaged and the nonprofit sector, valued at more than US$950 million.
