Four Latham & Watkins Partners Named Among Law360’s 2011 MVP Honorees

Partners Archie, Pfeiffer, Schneider and Sobel lauded for accomplishments in privacy, competition, environmental and private equity work.

Four Latham & Watkins partners – Jennifer Archie, Al Pfeiffer, Janice Schneider and Howard Sobel – have been named among the winners in Law360’s inaugural MVP awards for their accomplishments and work in the privacy, competition, environmental and private equity practice areas, respectively. The MVP awards honor “attorneys whose accomplishments in major litigation or transactions have raised the bar” this year.

    • Privacy & Consumer Protection: Jennifer Archie, a partner in the Washington, D.C. office, has broad litigation and counseling experience representing Internet access and transport providers, online businesses, and technology and communications providers on a range of consumer protection, data protection, privacy and security matters.
    • Competition: Al Pfeiffer, a litigation partner in the San Francisco office, was acknowledged for his wide range of antitrust trial experience, including his successful defense in FTC v. Lundbeck, a rare trial of a government challenge to a consummated pharmaceutical merger, confirmed by the 8th Circuit on appeal.
    • Environmental: Janice Schneider, a partner in the Washington, D.C. office, has extensive experience in environmental, American Indian and natural resource law. She successfully handles matters in federal court, before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the US Department of the Interior and numerous other federal agencies, as well as Members of Congress and staff.
    • Private Equity: Howard Sobel, a corporate partner in the New York office and global co-chair of the firm’s private equity practice, was recognized for his work on multiple high profile retail deals, including his work on Leonard Green & Partners’ $2 billion acquisition of BJ’s, the national wholesaler.
