David Buchanan advises private equity firms, lenders, and corporate borrowers — particularly emerging companies — in financing transactions.
Mr. Buchanan helps borrowers and lenders negotiate secured and unsecured debt products including:
On the borrower side, he advises public and private emerging and high growth companies in a range of industries, including fashion and cosmetics. He also advises private equity firms in leveraged buyouts and add-on acquisitions and provides strategic restructuring advice.
On the lender side Mr. Buchanan advises investment banks, commercial finance companies, and direct lenders on the full business lifecycle, through to liquidity events or restructuring.
Mr. Buchanan draws on experience as in house counsel at a manufacturing company and at a private equity firm, so brings a comprehensive perspective to transactions. He offers clients a sophisticated sense of market practice to efficiently identify opportunities across the capital structure.
Mr. Buchanan was a founding member and serves on Latham’s Native American Lawyers Group.
He served as a Federal Judicial Law Clerk to Judge Jane Dickson McKeag of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California.
