Latham & Watkins Advises Hytera on CFIUS Clearance

The CFIUS clearance process follows successfully completed national security reviews in the UK and Germany in connection with the acquisition of Sepura.

Hytera Communications Corporation Limited has announced that as of 13 July 2018 it has received clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) for its indirect acquisition of PowerTrunk Inc, a US subsidiary of Teltronic S.A.U, which was owned by UK based Sepura Plc.

Latham & Watkins LLP advised Chinese technology company Hytera on the takeover of London Stock Exchange listed Sepura Plc, which completed in 2017. The CFIUS clearance process follows successfully completed national security reviews in the UK and Germany in connection with the acquisition of Sepura.

Partner Les Carnegie in Washington, D.C. led the CFIUS team.  A Latham team of 56 lawyers in 9 offices have worked with Hytera on its acquisition of Sepura with a team lead by corporate partners Richard Butterwick in London and Cathy Yeung in Hong Kong, with partner Jonathan Parker in London leading on the UK public interest clearance and counsel Jana Dammann in Hamburg leading a German team on the clearance received from German authorities.  Latham also provided advice on employee benefits and compensation, finance, tax, competition and other regulatory matters in connection with this transaction.
