The Asian Lawyer Names Latham “Emerging Markets International Law Firm of the Year”

Latham scoops seven awards including Philippines Law Firm of the Year and Thailand Law Firm of the Year.

The Asian Lawyer’s third annual “Emerging Markets” awards recognized Latham & Watkins across seven different categories. Latham was named the overall Emerging Markets International Law Firm of the Year, reflecting the firm’s strong practice and high profile work in the ASEAN region. In addition, the publication named Hong Kong partner Posit Laohaphan “Capital Markets Lawyer of the Year” and Hong Kong partner Ing Loong Yang “International Arbitration Lawyer of the Year”, and the firm was named Philippines Law Firm of the Year and Thailand Law Firm of the Year.

Latham advised on two award-winning transactions in the region:

  • Equity Capital Markets Deal of the Year: Indigo Airlines (counsel to underwriters, led by Singapore partner Rajiv Gupta)
  • Private equity/venture capital M&A Deal of the Year: KKR, Warburg consortium’s $550m investment in GO-JEK (counsel to acquirers, led by Hong Kong partner Amy Beckingham)
