Latham & Watkins Advises on Millicom International Cellular S.A.’s US$500 Million High Yield Financing of the Acquisition of a Controlling Stake in Cable Onda in Panama

The offering was part of the approximately US$60 billion of high yield offerings Latham handled during the first three quarters of 2018.

Latham & Watkins LLP represented the initial purchasers, BNP Paribas, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and Scotiabank, on Millicom International Cellular S.A.’s offering of US$500 million of 6.625% senior notes due 2026. The proceeds of the offering were intended to fund part of Millicom’s acquisition of a controlling 80% stake in Cable Onda, the largest cable and fixed telecommunications services provider in Panama. Through its Tigo and Tigo Business™ brands, Stockholm-listed Millicom provides a wide range of digital services in eight countries in Latin America and two countries in Africa.

Corporate partner Scott Colwell led the Latham team, with associates Matthew Friedman, Taylor Mullings, Marc Galeotti, and Aishwarya Nair.
