Antitrust Litigation Earns Top Verdicts Honor

Automobile industry case decided on res judicata grounds.

February 23, 2018

A Latham & Watkins antitrust litigation team has been recognized for an important win in a state lawsuit in the 2017 “Top Verdicts in California” report published by the Daily Journal. The action brought against client Ford Motor Co. of Canada was dismissed in June 2017 by a San Francisco County Superior Court judge in a long-running antitrust case alleging that an automobile manufacturers’ conspiracy drove up car prices. The court granted Ford Canada’s motion for entry of judgment on res judicata grounds, finding that a prior federal court decision precluded plaintiffs from re-litigating the case, as explained in the published case profile. The case has been led by Latham partners Peggy Zwisler, Sarah Ray, and William Sherman of the firm’s market-leading Antitrust & Competition Practice.
