Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Aldo Piccarreta will join the firm’s Milan office as a partner in the Corporate Department. Piccarreta is one of the leading M&A practitioners in Italy, with extensive experience advising private equity sponsors and companies on a variety of complex domestic and cross-border transactions.

“We are delighted to welcome Aldo to the firm,” said Antonio Coletti, Latham & Watkins’ Milan Office Managing Partner. “His broad experience knits well with our existing top-tier practices, and he will be a fantastic addition to the team as we continue to grow our M&A and private equity market share in Italy and across Europe.”

Over the years, Piccarreta has established an excellent reputation advising clients on a range of private equity, M&A, joint ventures, corporate finance and real estate transactions. He also has significant experience advising Italian and international companies on general commercial and corporate governance matters.

Stefano Sciolla, Chair of the Corporate Department in Milan, added: “We have built one of the foremost transactional practices in Italy, with market-leading expertise in private equity, M&A, debt and equity capital markets, banking and restructuring. Aldo has a tremendous track record advising on a number of high profile deals and he is widely known in the market to be an accomplished and hard-working lawyer who brings good business instinct and practical advice to any deal. His arrival will add significant depth to our vibrant practice in Italy, and further expands our offering to corporates and private equity sponsors in Europe.”

Piccarreta joins Latham & Watkins from Gattai, Minoli, Agostinelli & Partners. Commenting on his move, he said: “I would like to thank my former colleagues at Gattai Minoli Agostinelli & Partners for my five years at the firm and for the strong friendships and experience. I wish them the best as they build on their past success.”

“Latham is one of the few firms in Italy to successfully combine top-tier expertise in some of the most active industries in the global economy. The firm’s unique ability to advise clients on the full spectrum of private equity, M&A and acquisition finance matters across multiple markets is a hugely exciting proposition, and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the practice in Italy and beyond,” added Piccarreta.

In addition to working extensively in Italy, Piccarreta has considerable experience working in London advising UK private equity firms on their cross-border investments. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Bari.
