Paris Office Adds Prominent M&A Partners

Addition of Patrick Laporte and Pierre-Louis Cléro represents major milestone in expansion of firm's M&A capability in Paris and Europe.

Major milestone in the expansion of Latham’s M&A capability in Paris and Europe

Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that Patrick Laporte and Pierre-Louis Cléro have joined the firm’s Paris office as partners in the Corporate Department.

The partners’ practice spans a wide range of public and private domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, including joint ventures, stock exchange-related transactions and general corporate and commercial law matters mainly for industrial clients, with a particular focus on the media and advertising, telecommunication, air transportation, energy and finance sectors.

Laporte has earned a reputation as one of France’s most experienced and knowledgeable public and private M&A lawyers, advising on a variety of highly strategic transactions.

Laporte and Cléro join Latham & Watkins from Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. Laporte has a strong academic background in engineering, business and law. He earned a post-graduate degree in Management and Finance from University of Paris I in 1987, a Business Law degree from University of Paris XI in 1984 and a degree in Electronics and Computer Science from University of Paris V in 1980. Cléro received a post-graduate degree in Business Administration from ESCP, a leading business school in France, in 2000 and a Business and Tax Law degree from University of Paris X in 1999.
