Michael Huggins litigates and advises clients across industries on complex and high-value commercial matters, focusing on insurance counseling and recovery.
Mr. Huggins’ insurance experience spans a broad range of commercial lines of insurance, including:
- Cyber, privacy, and crime
- Commercial general liability
- Commercial property and business interruption
- Directors and officers liability
- Employment practices liability
- Professional liability insurance policies
Mr. Huggins represents policyholders in federal and state trial and appellate courts in some of the most highly visible and largest insurance claims throughout the country. He has substantial experience assisting policyholders with responding to cyber events and assisting businesses with seeking coverage for losses due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Mr. Huggins maintains a robust pro bono practice, advising clients regarding a wide range of legal needs, including in immigration, veterans benefits, and civil rights matters. He currently serves as court-appointed pro bono counsel in an incarcerated individual’s federal civil rights action against California prison officials concerning their deliberate indifference to his serious medical needs.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Huggins served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern in the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
