Lucy Hartland is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the Real Estate Practice.

Ms. Hartland has experience across a broad range of real estate transactions, advising a variety of financial institutions and sponsors on multijurisdictional transactions, including the establishment of acquisition, development and investment facilities covering hospitality, residential, office, retail, and student real estate assets.

Prior to joining Latham, Ms. Hartland worked at a US law firm based in London, focusing on special situations, distressed debt trading, and real estate finance. Ms. Hartland acted for a range of clients including corporate borrowers, high-net-worth individuals, non-institutional lenders, and private equity funds.

Ms. Hartland’s experience includes advising:

  • The lender on loan-on-loan financings ultimately secured over Irish real estate assets
  • The lender on loan-on-loan financings ultimately secured over English real estate assets
  • MeiraGTx Holdings plc secured growth financing up to US$100 million
  • Ares on its acquisition loan facility in respect of a commercial office building in Belgium
  • The lender on a £525 million data center refinancing and securitization
  • A private investment firm on its c. £1 billion acquisition of four central London hotels and leasing to Israel's largest hospitality organisation*
  • The borrower on its reorganization and its refinancing, development, bridge and acquisition financings secured over commercial and residential English real estate assets*
  • PLC on its refinancing of a c.£140 million term and a £60 million revolving facilities agreement combined with assistance on a bond issuance of €330 million of bonds*
  • Alternative investment managers in connection with secondary debt trading investments*
