David M. Buchanan is counsel in Latham & Watkins' Finance Department. Mr. Buchanan devotes his practice principally to the representation of banks, commercial finance companies, private equity firms, and other borrowers in transactional matters. His practice focuses on finance with specialties in acquisition financing, asset-based financing, working capital financing, and restructuring. Mr. Buchanan has represented clients in mergers, acquisitions, and other financing matters and has experience in the negotiation and documentation of secured and unsecured credit facilities involving multi-tranche term and revolving loans for acquisition and working capital purposes. His experience in M&A has covered acquisitions in private and public markets across a broad range of industries.
Mr. Buchanan also has experience in a variety of insolvency and restructuring matters on behalf of secured creditors, debtors, unsecured creditors, and purchasers in bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court workouts.
Mr. Buchanan is a member of the Illinois and California State Bars and from 1999 to 2000, he served as a Federal Judicial Law Clerk to Judge Jane Dickson McKeag of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California.
