London Partner Named to Financial News "40 Under 40"

Scott Colwell, a capital markets partner in Latham & Watkins’ London office, has been recognised by Financial News as a “rising star in the European legal profession.” The publication named Colwell to its inaugural Legal Services “40 Under 40” list, which identifies the “brightest up-and-coming lawyers aged under 40” and includes lawyers working in both private practice and in-house in investment banking, asset management and insurance, and corporates where a large part of their remit involves the capital markets.

Financial News cites Colwell’s work for “leading investment banks including Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank” and says he is “frequently engaged on innovative and market-leading deals.” In particular, Financial News highlights his work advising the initial purchasers on the $3.7 billion bond offerings for the $23.3bn Virgin Media/Liberty Global deal and on the Altice Financing/HOT Telecommunications deal, which was the first high-yield bond offering for an Israeli company in a leverage buyout.
