Going Carbon Neutral

In 2020, our firm became carbon neutral in 2020 for Scopes 1 and 2 emissions, as a result of many efforts, including firmwide investments to improve efficiencies and carbon offsets.

In December 2020, we exceeded our initial goal of reducing our Scopes 1 and 2 (direct and indirect) greenhouse gas emissions by 25% when measured against a 2017 baseline, and the firm went carbon neutral for Scopes 1 and 2. This outcome is all the more impressive given that our headcount increased more than 30% during this time. We recently signed onto the Science Based Targets initiative, and are setting new targets for our Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

At Latham, we recognize the importance of taking meaningful action to address climate change, so we decided go beyond our initial reduction goals and fully mitigate the remaining 8,889 tons of our Scopes 1 and 2 emissions. Our firm became carbon neutral in 2020 for our Scopes 1 and 2 emissions by originating, acquiring, and surrendering high-quality carbon offset credits issued by Climate Action Reserve and Verra.
