As Public Service Counsel, Director of Global Pro Bono for Latham & Watkins, Wendy Atrokhov oversees one of the largest pro bono programs in the world.

Since 2000, Latham has provided more than 3.2 million pro bono hours in free legal services to underserved individuals and families, and the nonprofit sector.

More than 90% of Latham lawyers worldwide undertake pro bono work in nearly every area of public interest law, including veterans’ rights, education, criminal justice reform, housing and homelessness, disability rights, civil rights, immigration and asylum, unaccompanied immigrant children, anti-human trafficking, and domestic violence. In addition, Latham organizes legal clinics and advises charities, nonprofit organizations, and social enterprises working to address critical social problems.

Latham’s Pro Bono Committee includes nearly 70 members from our offices in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Pro bono matters are often staffed across borders, with Ms. Atrokhov working closely with committee members to to develop strategic engagements in support of global humanitarian issues.

The firm has been recognized for its pro bono efforts by the Pro Bono Institute, Human Rights First, National Veterans Legal Services Program, KIND, Equal Justice Works, The American Lawyer, The National Law Journal, Appleseed Network, and TrustLaw/Thompson Reuters Foundation, among others.

Ms. Atrokhov serves on the Lawyers’ Committee of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, the TrustLaw Pro Bono Council, and the PILnet Pro Bono Leadership Council, and is a member of the Washington Council of Lawyers. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of LathamCares, which offers grants and assistance to those in the Latham community who have been affected by personal hardship or crisis.

Prior to serving in her current role, Ms. Atrokhov practiced corporate finance law in Latham’s Moscow office from 2002 – 2010, where she represented foreign private issuers in debt and equity offerings and regulatory compliance matters, and established the office’s pro bono program. She began her career as an associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office in 1999.
