Taniel Akay is an associate in the Corporate Department of the London office of Latham & Watkins, and a member of the Capital Markets Practice. Mr. Akay advises clients on corporate transactions, with a particular emphasis on issuances of high yield debt securities.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Akay completed his legal studies at Cornell Law School, where he was editor of the Cornell International Law Journal. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego.

Mr. Akay’s experience includes advising:

  • Deutsche Bank in its capacity as sole dealer-manager for Softbank Group’s tender offer for c. US$1 billion of notes across c. US$8 billion (equivalent) in aggregate principal amount of high-yield notes
  • Verisure, a Hellman & Friedman portfolio company offering home security products and services, in its issuance of €1.145 billion (equivalent) of senior unsecured notes and concurrent consent solicitation transaction relating to certain existing notes and facilities
  • Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, and the remaining syndicate of initial purchasers in the €720 million senior secured notes financing supporting the acquisition by sponsors Cinven, KKR, and Providence of MasMovil Group, Spain’s fourth largest telecommunications services provider
  • Intesa Sanpaolo and the remaining syndicate of initial purchasers in the €605 million senior secured notes financing supporting the acquisition by sponsors Bain Capital and Neuberger Berman of Engineering Group, the leading provider of IT services in Italy
  • Victoria PLC, an AIM-listed company and the United Kingdom’s largest carpet manufacturer, in its premier issuance of €330 million senior secured notes to refinance an existing acquisition bridge facility; Mr. Akay further represented the company in its subsequent tack-on issuance of €170 million senior secured notes
  • The syndicate of initial purchasers in the issuance of US$200 million senior secured notes by the Drax Group, one of the United Kingdom’s largest energy producers, to refinance an existing acquisition bridge facility
  • The syndicate of initial purchasers in the issuance of £150 million senior secured notes by Together Financial Services, a leading consumer finance provider in the United Kingdom
