Lauren Talerman is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.
Ms. Talerman’s practice focuses on white collar internal investigations and defense as well as compliance with export controls, economic sanctions, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
She also assists companies in navigating the process of securing national security clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). She joins Latham with significant experience working on national security issues for government agencies including:
- The US Department of Homeland Security as a counterterrorism analyst for a defense contractor
- The US Department of State in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction both as a Field Officer in Iraq and a Foreign Affairs Officer in Washington, D.C.
- The US Department of Justice, National Security Division as a legal intern in the Counterterrorism Section
While pursuing her legal education, Ms. Talerman served as the Senior Federal Circuit editor for the American University Law Review. She also participated in the Spring 2015 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition, where she received an Honorable Mention for “Best Presenter,” and participated in the Spring 2014 Niagara International Law Moot Court Competition, where she was honored “Best Advocate.”
Ms. Talerman is also a member of the Young Professionals in Foreign Policy.
