Julie Choi Shin is an associate in the Washington D.C. office of Latham & Watkins. 

Ms. Shin is a member of the Litigation & Trial Department, where she practices primarily in the firm’s Export Controls, Economic Sanctions & Customs Practice.

Ms. Shin principally assists companies in navigating the process of securing national security clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Ms. Shin has represented clients in several filed cases and has advised clients on whether filings are required or advisable.

Ms. Shin also assists in counseling clients on compliance with US international trade controls, including economic sanctions regulations administered and enforced by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and US export controls.

While in law school, Ms. Shin worked as a legal intern at the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement. Prior to law school, Ms. Shin worked as a researcher on international security issues.

Prior to joining Latham full-time, Ms. Shin was a summer associate in the Washington, D.C. office.
