Jean-Baptiste Douchy is an associate in the Brussels office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice. Mr. Douchy advises clients on EU and French competition law.

Mr. Douchy advises public and private companies on EU law matters, particularly mergers and acquisitions, abuse of dominance, State aid and cartel infringements, and other regulatory issues. He practices in the areas of technology, insurance, sports, automotive, and energy.

Mr. Douchy joined the firm in 2019 after working in the Brussels office of another leading international law firm. He previously completed an internship at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition in the Energy and Environment merger unit.

Mr. Douchy’s experience includes representing:

  • Aon in its planned US$30 billion acquisition of Willis Towers Watson
  • MGM in its planned US$8.45  billion acquisition by a multi-national technology company
  • Mellanox in its US$7 billion acquisition by Nvidia, a leading communication technology company
  • Saudi Aramco in its US$70 billion acquisition of SABIC*
  • A sport federation in ongoing abuse of dominance proceedings by the European Commission
  • A major semiconductor company in ongoing abuse of dominance proceedings by the European Commission and several other competition authorities
  • A major technology company in ongoing abuse of dominance proceedings by the European Commission
  • A major technology company on various strategic regulatory issues in connection with the EC’s Digital Markets Act Proposal
  • A major semiconductor company in an abuse of dominance investigation by the European Commission*
  • An energy company in abuse of dominance proceedings by the European Commission*
