Aaron Bassett is an associate in Latham & Watkins’ London office, and a member of the firm’s Corporate Department. His corporate practice covers a broad range of matters, including M&A, private equity, public M&A and takeovers, joint ventures, and general corporate matters.

Mr. Bassett’s experience includes advising:

  • Bessemer Venture Partners as the lead investor in Vector.ai’s US$15 million Series A funding round
  • The lead investor in Marshmallow’s US$85 million Series B funding round, giving Marshmallow a post-money valuation of US$1.25 billion and making it only the second Black-founded unicorn in the UK
  • Nord Anglia Education on its acquisition of the Schools and Colleges division of the Oxford International Education Group, comprising independent secondary schools including d’Overbroeck’s, Oxford International College and Oxford Sixth Form College
  • First Sentier Investors on its £995 million acquisition of a 50% stake in Multifuel Energy Limited and Multifuel Energy 2 Limited and its acquisition of the UK division of Wheelabrator Technologies Holdings; the combined business – rebranded as enfinium is the UK’s largest pure play waste to energy business, with seven strategically located EfW facilities in operation or advanced development
  • Permira on its acquisition of Quotient Sciences, a provider of CDMO and CRO services to pharma and biotech companies 
  • Farfetch on its acquisition of certain assets of Opening Ceremony, an American multi-brand retailer
  • Facebook on its acquisition of Papers With Code, an artificial intelligence research platform provider  
  • Facebook on its acquisition of Mapillary, a collaborative street-level imagery platform provider 
  • A Japanese conglomerate on the sale of its 100% interest in a UK nuclear power development company*
