It is with profound sadness that we mourn the death of Los Angeles retired partner John S. Welch, who passed away on Saturday, February 13. He was 100.
Effectively one of the founders of the firm, John joined Latham in 1948 after attending Harvard Law School on the GI Bill — ultimately becoming Latham’s tenth partner in 1955. He had a long and distinguished career as a labor and ERISA lawyer and for decades was one of the most highly sought after specialists in employee benefit plan negotiation and administration. He retired in 1990.
John S. Welch retired from Partnership on December 31, 1990 as a member of the Litigation Department.
