Athena Katsampes is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Litigation & Trial Department. She advises clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare, education, finance, white collar criminal defense, as well as government and internal investigations.
Ms. Katsampes has experience advising clients on enforcement, compliance, and litigation matters involving potential violations of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the Bank Secrecy Act, the False Claims Act, and various anti-discrimination laws. As part of this practice, she has represented clients before the US Department of Justice, the Securities & Exchange Commission, and the Department of Education. In addition, Ms. Katsampes counsels clients with respect to M&A and capital markets transactions, including pre- and post-acquisition due diligence.
During law school, Ms. Katsampes served as a legal intern in the Appellate Division at the United States Attorney’s Office in Boston, Massachusetts. Following law school, she clerked for the Honorable Sidney Fitzwater in the Northern District of Texas and worked in private practice in Washington, D.C. before joining Latham in 2021.
