Litigators add national prominence and notable trial experience to the firm’s growing IP practice
San Francisco and Menlo Park, CA … Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that a group of six leading intellectual property litigation partners have joined the firm in its Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices. The partners join from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where they established highly regarded practices advising leading information technology, pharmaceutical and semiconductor companies and winning complex cases at trial.
The group of partners includes Roger J. Chin, Richard G. Frenkel, Julie M. Holloway, Terry Kearney, Michael A. Ladra, and Ron E. Shulman. The addition of this group provides a major boost to the firm’s patent litigation capabilities, particularly in the Bay Area, while also complementing the firm’s corporate practice and highly active emerging companies practice where IP issues are critical. The group follows several other recent high-profile additions to the firm’s patent litigation and ITC practices in Latham & Watkins’ Washington, D.C. office, including Lawrence Gotts, Matthew Moore and Bert Reiser.
“With our recent lateral additions augmenting our existing resources, we have built a powerhouse intellectual property litigation practice from coast to coast, across all significant industry sectors,” said Bob Steinberg, Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice. “The market for IP litigation continues to be strong, and this group of partners will add substantially to our reputation by helping us serve leading companies with their most challenging cases.”
Matthew Rawlinson, Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Silicon Valley office, said: “We are delighted to add this group of talented partners to our firm. They are excited to grow their practices via the global reach and resources available at Latham, and we are equally excited to welcome them to the firm.”
“The complex IP litigation matters handled by these lawyers play to Latham & Watkins’ strengths as one of the few global law firms with the broad capabilities to counsel clients across geographies, practice areas and industries. Our growth and success have been achieved without diluting our entrepreneurial culture and the value we and our clients place on high quality legal advice,” added Scott Haber, Office Managing Partner of the firm’s San Francisco office.
Ron Shulman commented: “We were particularly attracted by the global platform and deep IP litigation resources available at Latham & Watkins to support and grow our practices. We have successfully worked together as a group for many years, and we all are confident that joining Latham will advance our practices and capabilities.”
Frenkel, Kearney, Ladra and Shulman are resident in the firm’s Silicon Valley office, while Chin and Holloway are based in the San Francisco office.
