Singapore partners Rajiv Gupta and Clarinda Tjia-Dharmadi have been named Capital Markets Lawyer of the Year and Project Finance Lawyer of the Year, respectively.

Singapore partners Rajiv Gupta and Clarinda Tjia-Dharmadi have been named Capital Markets Lawyer of the Year and Project Finance Lawyer of the Year, respectively, in The Asian Lawyer’s 2015 Emerging Markets Awards. The awards recognizes “the most innovative and creative deals and disputes in Southeast Asia and India.”

The Asian Lawyer described Gupta’s practice as “a strong, well-rounded portfolio of work that warranted recognition.” Gupta advises clients on initial public offerings, private placements and high-yield bonds, among other securities transactions both in India and the US. He represented online travel company MakeMyTrip on a follow-on offering on the Nasdaq, the banks on Indigo Airlines’ $460 million IPO in India and the underwriters of property company Lodha Developers’ first high-yield bond issuance.

The Asian Lawyer called out Tjia-Dharmadi’s high profile work, noting “[s]he’s a longtime practitioner who has her hands in a number of different projects, not least our winner of the Energy Deal of the Year, the Donggi Senoro LNG project in Indonesia.” Tjia-Dharmadi acted for state-owned PT Pertamina on the financing. She has also advised the Asian Development Bank on the financing of the Rantau Dedap Geothermal project in Sumatra. She also regularly advises on landmark oil and gas, petrochemicals, mining, power and infrastructure projects and acquisitions.

Latham also advised on the Energy Deal of the Year—the groundbreaking Donggi Senoro liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Indonesia. “The $2.9 billion project was pioneering because it enabled separate development of upstream and downstream businesses,” said The Asian Lawyer. Latham & Watkins advised sponsor PT Pertamina (Persero) in the financing.
