Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Charles Sanders has joined the firm’s Boston office as a partner in the Litigation Department. Sanders brings market-leading, first chair intellectual property litigation experience to the firm’s Boston office.

Latham’s Boston office consists of two locations in the Boston area – in the iconic John Hancock Tower in the Back Bay and in Waltham along the Route 128 technology corridor. The office boasts 50 lawyers who counsel clients ranging from emerging companies to multinational corporations in some of their biggest strategic deals and most complex litigation.

Sanders’ practice focuses on patent litigation. He has led numerous litigations as a first chair in federal district courts and the US International Trade Commission (ITC). With a background in chemistry and physics, Sanders has represented clients in a variety of technologies and industries in the ITC and courts across the country. He has obtained summary judgment and trial victories, ITC exclusion orders and multi-million dollar settlements.

Hans Brigham, Office Managing Partner of Latham’s Boston office, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Charles to the firm as we continue to grow our talented team of lawyers in Boston. He combines local roots and exceptional legal skill with substantial experience both here in town and in the most important IP litigation arenas.”

Kenneth Parsigian, Litigation Department Chair in Boston added: “Charles joins a talented group of litigators in Boston who advise clients locally and worldwide on their most complex, bet-the-company legal challenges. Charles will be a great addition to a group that offers clients deep experience and outstanding service across multiple industries and practices, whether their needs are local or multi-jurisdictional.”

“Charles’ arrival further adds to our deep bench of trial-ready IP litigation lawyers at Latham & Watkins,” said Matthew Moore, global Co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group. “Charles also helps expand our IP practice in a key market – Boston – to further our ability to face complex IP challenges across the country.”

“The opportunity to join Latham’s top-end IP litigation group, expand the IP group in Boston and grow my practice at a firm with such a strong culture and vast litigation resources was particularly compelling to me. At Latham, I will have the ability to provide my clients the advantages of a global firm while remaining connected to the local community. I’m excited to join the firm and be a part of Latham’s phenomenal group of experienced IP trial lawyers,” said Sanders.

Sanders joins from Goodwin Procter LLP in Boston. He received his B.S. in chemistry and physics and his law degree from Harvard, both magna cum laude.
