Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Derek Chua has joined the firm’s Hong Kong office as a counsel in the Financial Institutions Group. Chua is an experienced capital markets and equity derivatives lawyer with a strong track record advising banks, securities firms, stock exchanges and other financial institutions on a wide range of complex securities matters.
Chua has substantial experience advising global, Hong Kong and PRC investment banks and financial institutions on various debt- and equity-linked securities, structured equity financings, corporate derivative transactions, and a variety of retail and institutional structured products. He has advised the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on the establishment of its OTC derivatives clearing house and the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Connect platform. Chua also has significant experience advising on the regulatory aspects of debt securities, derivatives and structured products, with a focus on Hong Kong and PRC regulations.

Chua joins Latham & Watkins from Linklaters where he was a managing associate in the Hong Kong office. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) as well as a Bachelor of Laws from The University of Sydney.
