Latham & Watkins Adds Corporate Partner in Spain

European M&A practice further strengthened with additional of experienced partner.

Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that Ignacio Balañá has joined the firm’s Madrid office as a partner in the Corporate Department. Balañá has extensive experience advising on complex M&A deals, with particular expertise representing private equity firms and funds on a wide variety of cross-border matters.

Balañá also has experience advising on joint ventures, restructurings and general commercial matters. His clients include a number of major global and European private equity firms, pension funds, investment banks, and corporate clients. He has a strong track record advising on cross-border matters, in particular on deals that have a nexus with the Middle East and Canada. 

He has advised on a number of significant deals in highly regulated sectors including energy and communications as well as the fashion, retail, and automotive industries, among others.

Balañá joins Latham & Watkins from Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira in Madrid. He obtained his Law Degree from the University of Barcelona in 1994, and a Bachelor of Economics and Business Studies from the same university in 1995.
