Experienced banking and finance partner elected to serve alongside Vice Chair Ora Fisher

09 August 2018

Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Brad Kotler has been elected Vice Chair of the firm, effective immediately. Kotler will serve alongside Silicon Valley partner Ora Fisher.

Kotler is widely known as one of the most respected practitioners in the banking and finance field, with vast experience in complex credit financings for acquisitions and working capital purposes. He has been at the forefront of the practice for many years, regularly advising both creditors — including major investment banks — and Fortune 500 borrowers on a range of credit facilities, merger financings, and large cap and middle market cash flow and asset-based loans. With more than 20 years’ experience leading innovative financings, he has consistently earned recognition from clients in the major financial centers around the world.

Among his leadership roles, Kotler has served as Office Managing Partner of the Chicago office, Vice Chair of the global Finance Department, Local Department Chair of the Finance Department in Chicago, and member of the Pro Bono, Recruiting, and Women Enriching Business (WEB) Committees. He currently serves as a member of Latham & Watkins’ Executive Committee.

Rich Trobman, Chair and Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins, said: “Since joining Latham out of law school, Brad has been a driving force who brings critical thinking, good judgment, and sharp intellect to every decision, every situation, every time. I’ve seen him bring the same passion, intensity, and dedication to his myriad leadership roles as he does to serving clients. I look forward to working closely with Brad alongside Ora — two partners whose breadth of experience and abiding commitment to our culture make them wonderful leaders of our firm.”

“Whether leading a team on a high-value, large-scale matter or building support for and pushing forward an internal initiative, Brad always gives his all. He will bring his trademark blend of energy, pragmatism, business smarts, and deep institutional knowledge to the role of Vice Chair,” added Ora Fisher, Vice Chair of Latham. “He is a true team player, and I am excited to serve with him.”

LeeAnn Black, Chief Operating Officer of Latham & Watkins, added: “We are in a period of profound change, and now more than ever it’s critically important to be aware of the forces driving innovation and change. Brad has shown his ability to adapt time and again, from helping build a preeminent practice to overseeing the growth of the Chicago office. He consistently displays strategic insight, high integrity, creative thinking, and innovative problem solving.”

“When I joined Latham more than 20 years ago, I had a sense even then of just how special Latham is. Over the years, working with some of the best legal minds in the field and serving with committed colleagues in management, I’ve seen firsthand what makes the firm so unique: the teamwork, the relentless focus on client service, the bold ambition. Being elected Vice Chair of our great firm is an intensely humbling and proud moment for me,” said Kotler.

Kotler joined the firm in 1995 after receiving his JD from Georgetown University Law Center the same year. He received his BBA from Emory University in 1992.
