Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Michael Lacovara will join the firm as a partner in the Litigation & Trial Department in the New York office.  His practice focuses on antitrust and complex commercial disputes across diverse industries, including the technology, financial services and natural resources sectors.

Widely known as a leading trial lawyer, Lacovara has advised on antitrust, complex commercial, tax and tort matters in more than 30 states and 10 federal circuits across the United States.  He is experienced in both the prosecution and defense of multi-jurisdictional and multi-forum litigation, and frequently serves as national and global coordinating counsel for business-critical cross border litigations.  Lacovara also has an extensive background in investment banking, having co-founded and served as President and CEO of Cortview Capital Holdings, a securities trading and investment banking firm, among other roles.

“Michael is one of a small cadre of trial lawyers in New York who combines the qualities our clients value most.  He is very smart, highly experienced, a fierce advocate and exactly the kind of lawyer you would want leading your trial team,” said Bill Voge, Chair and Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins.  “We’re excited to have him join and he will be an outstanding addition to our global practice.”

Jamie Wine, global Chair of Latham’s Litigation & Trial Department, added: “We are delighted to welcome such a prominent trial lawyer with top credentials in high-stakes antitrust and commercial litigation to our team.  Michael has a strong reputation as a senior counselor to boards and C-suites on matters involving complex business issues, including investigations, enforcement actions and bet-the-company disputes.”
