Boston Partner Honored by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

Kristen Grannis recognized with Up & Coming Lawyer award for legal excellence.

May 23, 2018

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly has featured Boston partner Kristen Grannis in its “Excellence in the Law” program as an Up & Coming Lawyer. This award acknowledges and profiles “attorneys who have been members of the bar for 10 years or less” yet “have already distinguished themselves despite their relatively junior status,” according to the publication.

Grannis’ practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments and acquisitions, and growth equity and venture capital financings. Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly commented on her ability to define herself in the “fast-paced world of mergers and acquisitions” in such a short span of time. In particular, it emphasized her success in closing three major M&A transactions in her first month after making partner at the beginning of 2018. The profile also noted her involvement with the Women’s Bar Association and its Women’s Leadership Initiative as well as her position as outside counsel to Year Up, a nonprofit organization that provides professional training to low-income young adults. Grannis is also Local Co-Chair of the Boston office’s Corporate Department.

In her interview, Grannis elaborated on the importance of serving as a mentor to younger colleagues, noting that it is a “great feeling of accomplishment” to be able to “give back” to others at Latham. At the end of the day, she said, “being considerate of others can go a long way.”
